Is aluminium worth it for you?
Enter the part you use today, what it is made of and where it goes. We tell you how much it would weigh in aluminium, which profile you need for it to perform the same and why it pays off.

| Corrosion | Very good: it forms a protective oxide layer; with anodising or paint, excellent. | Low: it rusts and needs paint or galvanising. |

Frequently asked questions
How much does aluminium weigh compared with steel?
About a third: aluminium has a density of 2.70 g/cm³ and steel 7.85 g/cm³, so the same part weighs 66% less.
Is aluminium as strong as steel?
Per kilo it is stronger than ordinary steel, but it is about three times less stiff: to replace a steel part, the section is redesigned to perform the same, and even so it usually ends up 40 to 50% lighter.
