According to the World Bank, the latest monthly average for aluminium on the London Metal Exchange (LME) is USD 3,283 per tonne, in September 2026: +23.7% over one year.

Why does an aluminium profile cost more than the LME price?

Because the LME price is for primary ingot. The finished profile adds the regional premium, extrusion, the finish (anodising or powder coating), freight and taxes.

What is the official dollar rate?

At the close on 2 October 2026, the official dollar was selling at ARS 1,543.18 on the bank average calculated by the BCRA. Each bank sets its own rate, so your bank’s may differ by a few pesos. The wholesale rate, the reference for companies and foreign trade, closed at ARS 1,523.09.

How much aluminium does Argentina produce?

In July 2026, 37,750 tonnes of primary aluminium were produced, and 250,980 tonnes so far in 2026. All of it is produced by Aluar in Puerto Madryn, Chubut.
